This course is an introduction to interactive media design and development, primarily for the web. Projects will cover planning and implementation of websites that offer common functionality as well as adhere to good usability, accessibility, compatibility, and validation practices. Working with XHTML, CSS, Actionscript 3.0 and multimedia assets students will build on their design workflow documents.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Build a website from scratch, using CSS and xHTML
- Be able to hand-code in addition to facilitation with WYSIWYG software
- Incorporate interactivity and animation in their web sites using Javascript
- Demonstrate the importance of accessible, standards-based web pages
- Create a multimedia project in Flash, incorporating some Actionscript 3.0
- Integrate well prepared mulitmedia elements in their sites
- Articulate their design process and workflow
- Build on these skills for future work in their own design practice
